Manufacture of Girders
This newly founded TFE unit resides in the TFE premises in Brno-Útěchov. Work contents of this modern and efficient unit consist in the manufacture of wooden girders and structures on the basis of gusset plate technology which enables a connection of dimension timber on the least possible area with the simultaneous provision of power transmission larger than in the classical wooden structures.
The unit provides both manufacture and complete design work which can later serve as groundworks for site and planning permit or construction permit, including static calculations made by means of the world-known programme developed by MiTek. Large-span constructions make use of GREIM BAU technology.
Structures made of gusset girders are an ideal solution for the construction of production and sports halls, warehouses, industrial objects, roof extensions and superstructures, roofs of family houses, formworks, face structures, etc.
The centre of girder manufacture in Brno-Útěchov is an important demonstration and schooling facility for students enrolled in the Bachelor and Master programmes in wood technology at the MZLU Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, and a good example for the modern utilization of wood as a sole renewable raw material.
Since January 2006, the unit was added a joinery workshop whose activities are as follows:
- manufacture of furniture from massive wood and special „tailored“ orders such as door cases, railing, staircases,
- manufacture of furniture from large-size materials,
- furniture repairs,
- gardening programme – manufacture of garden furniture, wooden garden movable stock, etc.
