Economic actual

Parallel to the main special-purpose activity, the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest Křtiny of MZLU Brno (TFE) deals with economic actual. Annual turnover amounts to about 200 mil. CZK. Economic actual consists mainly in the following activities:

Sawn timber production

Annual production represents 5,000 m3 of coniferous- (mainly spruce and pine) and 8,000 m3 of broadleaved (95% beech) timber sawn at the Olomučany Sawmill (pila@slpkrtiny.cz).

Manufacture and assembly of girders by the method of gusset plates

The operation is situated within the TFE Křtiny premises in Brno-Útěchov. It ensures the supplies of roof and vertical wooden girder systems (MiTek, GREIM BAU) in which wooden elements are connected by inpressed steel plates with spikes. Customers are offered a static calculation, manufacture, jacketing and thermal insulation of structures, wooden floors, outer and inner wooden lining with spruce and larch, wooden fencing, foot bridges, balconies and handrailing. Secondary Timber Production

The unit has an operation in Josefov (south of Olomučany). It offers production of matched lumber in classic, tatran and floor profiles, fence sections, pergolas, park and garden benches to order – all these of massive wood and there is a technology of infinite sill installed in the plant (josefov@slpkrtiny.cz).

Extraction and working of aggregate

The unit is situated between the villages of Vranov and Lelekovice and does processing of granodiorite, supplying large-size blocks, unsized quarry stone, assorted quality stone, crushed stone, backfill and crusher-run material. (kamenolom@slpkrtiny.cz).

Construction, manufacture and service of forest machines

The unit – Research Station resides in Křtiny. It makes cableways, winches, disk rotary cultivators for soil preparation, planters and mechanization for forest nurseries. The staff is experienced in the implementation of projects resolving material transport in impracticable terrains. The Research Station provides counselling in timber logging and skidding technologies and services in skyline skidding. (vyzkum@slpkrtiny.cz).

Forest operations for other entities

The specialized unit resides in Křtiny and provides services for customers in Czechia. In addition to a complex offer of all forest works it is specialized in tree felling in built-up areas, deforestation prior to construction, and in the implementation of reclamation and greenery establishment projects. Repairs of vehicles, tractors, power saws and forest machinery

The unit in Adamov offers overhauls and repairs of mechanisms, lorries and passenger cars, repairs and sales of manual means of mechanization used in forest and garden operations both for professionals and for hobbyists. It also runs a works’ fuel pumping station, tire service and a carwash. (autodilny@slpkrtiny.cz).

Production of planting stock and grown-up greenery

The unit of nurseries provides counselling in ornamental gardens offering over 250 ornamental tree and shrub species. Containerized planting stock can guarantee a good survival rate in whole-year-round planting. The unit offers forest tree species transplants cultivated from own sources occurring in the University forests – Natural Forest Region no. 30 Drahanská vrchovina Upland. (skolky@slpkrtiny.cz).

Silviculture, game management, forest protection, protective service

These works are carried out by Forest Districts in Vranov u Brna, Habrůvka and Bílovice nad Svitavou (vranov@slpkrtiny.cz; habruvka@slpkrtiny.cz; bilovice@slpkrtiny.cz). Binding provisions of the Forest Management Plan for the management-plan area of TFE Křtiny stipulate the execution of tending cleanings and thinnings to be made on 1,085 ha and 1,209 ha, respectively in forest stands up to 40 years of age. Game shot every year in 4 own TFE hunting grounds (Křtiny, Hády, Sokolnice and Rajhrad) whose total area is to 10,591 hectares amounts to about 20 heads of mouflon, 230 roe deer, 10 red deer, 470 wild boar, 10 fallow deer, 1,600 pheasants and 20 hares.

Trade Certificates that MZLU Brno has for TFE Křtiny have been issued for the following activities: sawmill operation, construction works in engineering, construction of machines with mechanical drive, manufacture, installation and repairs of electric machines and instruments, forest management and related services, activities of organization and economic advisors, paint shop activities, carpentry, bricklaying, floor and wall tiling and facing, insulation works, plumbing, cabinet making, tire service, carwash, operation of fuel and lubricant pumping stations, machine earth works, repairs of road vehicles, manufacture of farming machines, commercial trade, accommodation services, inkeeper’s trade. Trade licences
