100 years of UFE Křtiny
On 17 February 1923, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czechoslovak Republic and the State Land Office took over the former Liechtenstein forest estate of Adamov and entrusted it to the use of the University of Agriculture in Brno for educational and experimental purposes. The official name was the School Forest Enterprise Adamov. Over the years, the name of the organisation changed several more times. Since 1932, with the approval of President T. G. Masaryk, it was called the University Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest of the University of Agriculture in Brno. For political reasons, the term “Masaryk Forest” was banned between 1948 and 1989. The reference to the 1st Czechoslovak President returned to the name in 1990.
100 years ago, the University Forest Enterprise was destined to serve as a “clinic” for the university students and researchers, which is still the case today. 100 years is also one generation of forest, grown by several generations of foresters. The events organized as part of the celebration are primarily a thank you to our ancestors for the current beauty and diversity of the university forests.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of UFE, the book Ke kořenům (To the Roots) by Ester Dobiášová was published. The book can be purchased directly at the UFE. More information can be found here (Czech only).
